New Peace Commissioner appointed

WESTPORT-BASED Councillor Tereasa McGuire has been appointed a Peace Commissioner.

The Fine Gael member of Mayo County Council was congratulated by her party colleague Minister Michael Ring, who welcomed her appointment.

He said: “I was pleased to hear that Councillor McGuire has been appointed as a Peace Commissioner. I wish to congratulate Tereasa on this appointment.

“Tereasa is a person of good character and standing within the community. She is a well-respected teacher, councillor and overall community person.

“Tereasa is very approachable, so I believe she will be very good in this role.

“I wish Tereasa well in her new appointment.”
