Fine Gael select Mayo candidate for European race
MAYO woman Maria Walsh has tonight been selected by Fine Gael to run in next May's European Parliament elections.
The former Rose of Tralee from Shrule joins outgoing MEP Mairead McGuinness on a two-strong ticket in the Midlands North West constituency.
Ms. Walsh was proposed at tonight's selection in Mullingar by the Minister of Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring.
She said she is proud to get the opportunity of contesting the election and will be highlighting many issues affecting rural Ireland during the campaign.
"I hope to provide a new, young and fresh voice in the European Parliament with the support of the electorate across the region," she added.
Aged 31, Maria is a media and events consultant.
