Mayo brothers show off official movie poster ahead of cinema release

PRODUCER Tim Palmer has released artwork for the Mulligan Brothers' new gripping psychological thriller, The Limit Of.

The film by the Mayo directors features rising stars Laurence O'Fuarain and Sarah Carroll (nominated for a best actress IFTA), and will hit Irish cinemas on April 5.

“It really is exciting to have a poster that displays iconic Dublin buildings in such a visually striking way,” said Palmer.

The Limit Of, which premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh to critical acclaim, is a story that is very much rooted in director Alan Mulligan’s career as a successful banker during the Celtic Tiger years and its crushing aftermath.

The film captures the rapacious greed of the financial world and society’s ever-growing need for control. Mulligan’s slow, deliberate style builds a fever pitch of intensity as the film reaches its shocking climax.

O'Fuarain plays James Allen, the central character in the film - a controlling disconnected banker. “I fell in love with James’s character from my first reading of Alan’s script. It was a unique opportunity to play a character from my home town, which reflected the new city and pressures that many of my peers now work in. I cannot wait for Irish audiences to meet James in cinemas from April 5.”

The Limit Of features breakout performances for both lead actors, Sarah Carroll and Laurence O’Fuarain. Carroll was nominated for a best actress IFTA, with RTÉ critic Michael Doherty praising ‘a smart, contemporary thriller with a striking performance from Sarah Carroll’.

Carroll plays Alison, James Allen's nemesis as such. She said: “'From my first scenes with Laurence I knew we were making a special film. To have been nominated for an IFTA for my performance was an amazing experience but now, for the film to be getting a cinema release, is the real cast and crew award and something I'm very proud of.”
