Young Sports Stars of the Year Award winner No. 28: Conor Diskin
The final winner of a Merit Award in our Young Sports Stars of the Year Awards is a man who is making a mark on the Gaelic football field.
It didn't take long for new Mayo senior manager James Horan to recognise the talent of Conor Diskin and what he could bring to the Mayo table at senior level as a scoring threat.
Conor's talent was obvious from a very young age as he developed through the Claremorris underage structures.
He was a key part of the team which claimed the county Under 21 A football title last year, while he also played a signifcant role in helping the Mayo Under 20 team win a Connaught title in 2018, a victory they followed up with a win over Derry to reach the All-Ireland final where they lost to Kildare.
In more recent times Conor has made his presence felt on the Mayo senior squad, making his debut against Roscommon on a horrendous night at MacHale Park where Mayo emerged as one-point winners.
