Anger over 'totally unacceptable' Mayo train service
RECENT train services between Mayo and Dublin have been slammed as ' totally unacceptable'.
Castlebar passenger Paul Eustace has contacted The Connaught Telegraph to highlight the fact there were only three carriages on the morning service between Westport and Heuston Station on March 7.
On the return journey on the same date, there were only four carriages.
Said Mr. Eustace: "We were treated like cattle with standing room only for many passengers.
"It was totally unacceptable to run such inadequate sized trains.
"Is there no elected representative in Mayo prepared to fight this matter?"
A recent report by The Connaught Telegraph revealed a total of 1,105 complaints were submitted by Mayo passengers to Irish Rail last year, an increase of 327 on the previous year.
The complaints related to seat reservations, train breakdowns and delays, overcrowding and anti-social behaviour.
