Mayo mum follows daughter's footsteps on Winning Streak
A MAYO woman will be following in her daughter's footsteps this weekend when she will appear on the National Lottery Winning Streak TV game show on RTÉ One this Saturday.
Kathleen Linnane, from Barnatra, was so shocked when she saw her name pulled from the Winning Streak drum by presenters Marty Whelan and Sinead Kennedy that she completely froze and was 'stuck to the sofa'.
She was barely able to answer all of the calls that came flooding through after that. She is a mixed bag of nerves and excitement ahead of the weekend.
It is a time of double celebration for Kathleen as last weekend she celebrated 45 years of marriage to her husband, Martin.
The couple have five children, who are scattered all over Ireland and even further afield, and are coming together for a very special family get together this weekend. They are Sharon (coming from London), Pauline (coming from Galway), Bernadette (coming from Cork) and Sarah (coming from Dublin). Her youngest son, Brendan, is living in Australia and will be watching in online.
Kathleen, who was born and reared in Barnatra, moved to London with Martin earlier in their lives where they spent 10 years there before returning to the family home in Mayo.
Martin works the farm where the couple live and both are proud grandparents to five grandchildren.
Winning Streak is nothing new to the Linnanes as Kathleen’s daughter Bernadette appeared on the show in 2014, winning €10,500.
Kathleen has no plans as of yet for her winnings as she will wait for the dust to settle next week.
