Tracts of Mayo land under water after spell of heavy rains
TRACTS of land across Mayo are under water after the recent spell of heavy rains.
The problem is particularly evident in the Turlough, Ballyvary and Balla areas as the floods are close to the side of busy roadways.
But many farmers in communities throughout the county are concerned about the levels of water on sections of their land.
The dry weather forecast for the coming days is a welcome reprieve, but unsettled conditions are expected to return over the weekend.
Gardeners keen to start work on their vegetable patches and flower beds are hopeful of a general pick-up in the weather over the coming weeks.
