Body found during Lough Mask search operation

A BODY has been found this morning during a search operation at Lough Mask.

The remains will be brought from Cushlough Pier to Mayo University Hospital for post-mortem examination this afternoon.

A daily search of the lake has been ongoing since March 9 after a local angler failed to return home following an afternoon's fishing the day before.

It is understood the body found is that of Sean Maloney (78), an experienced angler and boatman from Ballinrobe.

A number of sub-aqua teams as well as search and rescue volunteers have been involved in the difficult operation over the past three weeks.
