Mayo FF councillor wants his party to 'pull the plug on Leo'
THE time has come to pull the plug on the Fianna Fáil confidence and supply agreement with the government, according to Mayo FF County Councillor, Al McDonnell.
Speaking at the launch of the party's team for the Castlebar electoral area at the Ivy Tower Hotel, Councillor McDonnell said he perceived a very positive response to Fianna Fail in the lead up to the local and European elections.
However, he said, there was strong grassroots support from Fianna Fail party members for an end to the current confidence and supply agreement.
"I think the time has come to pull the plug on Leo and his government ", he said.
Fianna Fail is fielding a three candidate team in the Castlebar area, with cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, Blackie Gavin, the long serving Al McDonnell, and outgoing councillor Martin McLoughlin, who was co-opted to the council to replace Lisa Chambers on her election to Dail Eireann.
A capacity attendance heard Deputy Chambers call for an all-out effort over the next four weeks to maximise the Fianna Fail vote and to secure the re-election of the three outgoing councillors.
The candidates were introduced by Gerry Feehan, chairman of the Fianna Fail Comhairle Ceantar.
