Mayo venue to host 'Battle of the Bands'

A TOP Mayo entertainment venue is set to host a 'Battle of the Bands' extravaganza.

Community Radio Castlebar (CRCfm) has announced it is inviting applications for the event over August Bank Holiday weekend, August 3, 4 and 5.

The contest will be staged at Garbos, Moneenbradagh, Castlebar, and a leading panel of adjudicators is being lined up.

The announcement was made today by presenter Johnny Oosten on his breakfast show on CRCfm.

Also involved in organising the event is one of the station's sports commentators, Jimmy Blake.
