Injuries sustained in two-car crash on N5 near Bohola

A NUMBER of people have sustained injuries in a traffic accident that occurred on the N5 between Swinford and Bohola this afternoon. 

An Garda Siochana has confirmed that the crash, involving two cars, took place around 2.30 p.m. on the busy route at Ballymiles.

The emergency services were called to the scene and a number of people who sustained injuries were transferred by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar.

It is understood that one of the persons injured has been hospitalised.

Traffic diversions have been in place, but the road is expected to reopen this evening.
