Concern over prolonged closure of Mayo street after fire
CONCERN has been raised over the prolonged closure of a street in Ballina.
James Connolly Street has been reopened since a fire broke out in a property at the location two months ago.
A member of Mayo County Council, Councillor Seamus Weir, said he has been informed the road will remain closed until a report on the fire is furnished to the authority.
But Councillor Weir said the situation needs to examined due to the traffic congestion the closure is causing at Foxford Road in the town.
He has called for one side of the James Connolly Street to be reopened to traffic to help address the problem.
Councillor Weir added the delay is also a source of frustration for residents of James Connolly Street.
