Mayo scam alert over 'broadband contract termination'

A NEW scam alert has been issued in Mayo.

Hundreds of businesses and homes across the country have been receiving telephone calls as part of the fraud.

The voice recording on the line states that "your broadband contract is to be terminated" - asking you to press 1 or 2 for options.

Don't. Just hang up.

Options 1 and 2 are an attempt to secure bank and other payment details.

Gardaì have been informed of the scam.

It is understood the incoming calls have 0077 prefix.
