New Coastguard station planned
A NEW Coastguard station is to be built in Westport.
The Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland have lodged an application for planning permission with Mayo County Council for a new base at Westport Harbour.
The proposed building will consist of a two-storey accommodation block and a single storey boathouse and vehicle store. There will also be a new access road to the northwest of the site and a new vehicular access point to the northeast corner of the site.
A radio aerial mast, entrance signage, 12 car parking spaces and three flag poles are also part of the plan.
