Mayo gardai confirm death of man at Kinaffe

GARDAI in Mayo have confirmed that a man died along the main Swinford to Kiltimagh roadway yesterday evening while out cycling.

The man in his 40s passed away shortly after becoming ill near the townland of Kinaffe.

The emergency services and An Garda Siochana were at the scene for several hours.

The news has cast a shadow of deep sorrow and loss across east Mayo.

A post-mortem is to take place today at Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar.

The road has reopened within the last hour after being closed overnight.
