Smyth is second candidate elected

A SECOND councillor has been elected in the Swinford electoral area, writes Claire McNamara.

Fianna Fáil Councillor Michael Smyth was elected on the second count, gaining 46 transfer votes from Gerry Murray (SF), giving him a total 1,677.

Neil Cruise (FG) gained 14 transfers, bringing him to 1,525. Tom Lavin (FG) is now on 1,188 gaining 58 transfers.

Both Sean Forkin (Ind) and Tommy Horan (Aontú) have been eliminated, with their votes to be distributed in the third count.
