Naval ship in Clew Bay

THERE was excitement in Clew Bay earlier this week with the arrival of a naval ship.

The LÉ Samuel Beckett, an Irish Naval Service off shore patrol vessel, was in the bay on Tuesday evening.

Residents on Inishturk had a great view of the ship, which was anchored off the island for a time. For photos, see the Inishturk Island Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/inishturkisland/).

In the days before it came into Mayo waters the Samuel Beckett visited Belfast for its maritime festival. Visitors to the vessel included Westlife, ahead of their gig in Belfast.
