Woman who died in tragic west Mayo incident is named locally
THE woman whose body was discovered by gardaì at her home in Kilbree, Westport, yesterday has been named locally.
She is 41-year-old Valerie Kilroy, the mother of three children.
Gardaì are continuing to question a 46-year-old man in connection with the tragic death.
He was arrested last night under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 after a murder investigation was launched into the incident.
The body of Ms. Kilroy, a HSE employee and a native of the Cork region, has been examined at the scene by the State Pathologist.
Her remains have been removed to Mayo University Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Gardaì said they are not seeking anybody else in connection with the woman's violent death.
The suspect is still being questioned at Castlebar Garda Station where an incident room has been set up.
