Passing of leading Mayo entrepreneur is widely mourned
THE death has taken place at Mayo University Hospital of Sher Mohammad Rafique, Clare Road, Ballyhaunis.
The deceased, who was in his eighties, established the Halal Meat Plant in Ballyhaunis in the late 1970s.
Now trading as United Meat Packers, it is one of the biggest employers in Mayo.
The Pakistani businessman was held in high regard across the region and did much to improve the lives of members the Muslim community throughout the west of Ireland by campaigning for better housing conditions and education facilities.
Deepest sympathy is extended to his family, friends and communities.
His remains will be reposing at The Mosque, Clare Road, Ballyhaunis, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon today (Tuesday) with removal to the local cemetery at 2.30 p.m.
