Mayo leading by three points at half time in Newry

MAYO have overcome a poor start to lead by 0-10 to 1-4 in this evening's All-Ireland SFC qualifier against Down in Newry.

They suffered a double early setback when conceding a goal to Down ace Caolan Rooney while Mayo forward Darren Coen received a black card shortly afterwards.

But they bounced back in style, thanks to assured performances by Conor Loftus, Aiden O'Shea, Fionn McDonagh, Keith Higgins and Andy Moran.

Mayo scorers: C. Loftus 0-4, three from frees, F. McDonagh 0-2, A. Moran, A. O'Shea, C. Barrett and K. McLoughlin 0-1 each.
