Gardai alerted to Castlebar street disturbance
GARDAÌ in Castlebar have been alerted to a brawl in the town centre this afternoon.
Shoppers, motorists and business owners were stunned when the incident broke out between Main Street and Market Square.
One witness said the fracas painted the town in a very poor light during a week in which a lot of overseas visitors are arriving for the Castlebar International Four Days Walks.
Those involved in the brawl are understood to be locally-based.
The incident held up traffic at the location for a period of time.
Another witness stated: "This kind of anti-social behaviour has to be stamped out as it is giving our town a bad name."
The matter is now being investigated by An Garda Siochana.
