Garda clampdown on forged tax and insurance discs

AN Garda Siochana has revealing a growing problem with bogus or forged no-claims bonus certificates and motor tax discs.

Garda Chief Superintendent Pat Lordan said they are seeing quite a substantial number of those being reported and motorists are being prosecuted for having these fraud certificates.

He said: “There would be quite a substantial number of prosecutions in respect of forged tax discs and forged insurance discs.”

He was speaking at a meeting of an Oireachtas committee.
