Investigation into east Mayo water supply contamination

AN investigation is taking place into how a water supply in an east Mayo community became contaminated with oil.

Mayo County Council issued a public alert yesterday in respect of the Cloonmore/Cloonlavish Group Water Scheme, near Knock.

Following consultation with the HSE, a Do Not Drink notice was put in place to protect the health of users.

Now efforts are underway to establish how oil found its way into the system.
