Mayo pair are Savate world championships medallists

TWO Mayo athletes have won bronze medals at the World Youth Savate Championships in Hungary.

Three Irish athletes representing Savate Ireland were in the medals – Cory McCullough from Co. Down, John McDonagh, Castlebar, and Laura Mitchell from Belcarra.

Corey McCullough won Cadet World Cup silver, John McDonagh won the male 70kg Youths World Championships bronze, while Laura Mitchell was also a bronze medallist in the female 65kg competition.

Corey is from the Bryansford club in Co. Down while John and Laura are both members of White Tiger Martial Arts in Mayo.
