Call for special trains to Saturday's big GAA match
THE cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council has called on Irish Rail to provide a number of special trains to Dublin for next Saturday's All-Ireland SFC semi-final between Mayo and Dublin at Croke Park.
Councillor Brendan Mulroy said the game is heading for a sell-out and the transport company needed to make an early announcement on extra trains from Mayo to the capital.
The Westport-based representative stated: "Fans, particularly the elderly, people with special needs and parents with young children, need to plan in advance.
"Rural Ireland is entitled to the same level of services people living on the east coast enjoy."
There is surprise across Mayo that Irish Rail has not yet made an announcement in regard to additional services on Saturday.
