GAA club championships set to resume in Mayo
FOLLOWING Mayo's exit from the All-Ireland championship it's back to club activity for the rest of the season.
The weekend after next, August 24/25, sees the resumption of the Mayo senior and intermediate championships with round two of the group stages down for decision.
It's an ideal opportunity for Mayo senior manager James Horan to unearth new talent for next year.
In round two it will be make or break for many teams in both senior and intermediate grades as the sides who lost their opening round games will need to get a result to stay in the championship.
In the senior championship the top clashes will come in group two and three. In group two the four teams - Castlebar Mitchels, Ballina, Aghamore and Westport - are all on one point each following the two drawn games in round one.
Castlebar will be at home to Ballina, while Aghamore and Westport go head to head.
In group three the big clash will be the Ballintubber versus Knockmore game which will be in Clogher.
Meanwhile, in the intermediate championship there are important games down for decision in all four groups.
