Mayo community mourns death of a parish stalwart
THE community of Balla is in mourning today following news of the death of Noel Langan, Station Road.
A retired member of the Irish Defence Forces, he was chairman of the local Fianna Fàil Cumann.
A tribute on the cumann's website stated: "Noel was a stalwart of our parish and gave freely of his time and energy to his family and community.
"We in Fianna Fàil will miss him greatly. He was always available to help and do his utmost for the county and the community and lead from the front with all things political, kind and respectful of all political."
Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.
Mayo Fianna Fàil Deputy Lisa Chambers joined in tendering sympathy to the Langan family on their loss.
She said he had made a huge contribution to Balla and Fianna Fàil over a long period of time.
Noel was dearly loved and loving father of Ruth and the late David and Mark.
Cherished "Pop" of Daniel and Adam, he will be sadly missed by his daughter, wife Marianne, son-in-law Andrew, grandsons, brother Jimmy, sisters Mary and Lucia, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, his dear friend Patricia, and his wide circle of friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.
His remains will be reposing at Anderson & Leahy's Funeral Home, Newbridge, on Monday from 4 o'clock with prayers at 7 o'clock.
Removal on Tuesday morning at 9.30 a.m. to arrive at Cill Mhuire, Ballymany, Newbridge (Eircode W12 KD56) for 10 o'clock Mass.
Burial takes place afterwards in St. Conleth's Cemetery, Newbridge.
