New road layout at Westport's Tubberhill

A NEW road layout has been in place since yesterday on Tubberhill in Westport.

Traffic turning off the Leenane Road to Tubberhill/Peter Street can now only go as far as the entrance to the Primary Healthcare Centre and the various houses/apartments in this part of town.

Traffic will operate as normal when using Peter Street/Tubberhill when heading out of town.

In a post on his Facebook page outlining the changes, Councillor Peter Flynn said: “Hopefully the new layout will reduce the number of incidents on Tubberhill and also reduce the pressure at the SuperValu exit on to Peter Street.

“It will of course increase the traffic at the Quay Road/Leenane Road junction so will have to see how all progresses and if changes will be required.”
