Renovation works are taking place ahead of the reopening of the former Newstand premises in Castlebar.

Return of 'The Lucky Lotto Shop' in Mayo is imminent

THE former Newstand outlet at Market Square in Castlebar is set to reopen shortly.

The news of the return of 'The Lucky Lotto Shop' will be warmly welcomed in the town and surrounding areas.

Behind the move is Laura Scriney, daughter of Paul and Chris Scriney, popular proprietors of Scriney's XL supermarket at Charles Street, Castlebar.

The former Newstand shop owners, Helen and Michael McHale, were in business at Market Square for 33 years before closing its doors at the end of last year.

It was the first of four outlets to open adjacent to Dunne Stores before the construction of the many commercial developments along what is now Hopkins Road.

Their loyal customers were saddened by its closure because they always received a warm welcome there.

But they will now be delighted to see a young business woman establishing herself at the busy location with the experience of having worked in the local retail trade with her family for many years.

She is wished every success.
