Energy efficiency investment boost for Mayo homes and businesses
MINISTER Michael Ring has announced details of homes and businesses in Mayo which are to receive supports in order to make them warmer and more energy efficient as part of government funded community energy upgrades.
Two electric vehicle charge points will also be installed in the county.
Upgrades under the SEAI communities grant scheme will include:
• roof, floor and wall insulation
• air to water heat pumps with fully integrated heating controls
• solid fuel room heaters
• replacement windows and doors
• lighting upgrades
• solar PV panels
• electric vehicle charge points
Energy upgrades will be carried out at:
• Four Irish Water pumping stations in Mayo including Lough Mask Pumping Station
• Multiple homes in Mayo
• Knockranny House Hotel
• Breaffy House Hotel
• Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence
• Mayo County Council buildings
• Castlebar Social Services
Speaking in relation to the announcement, Minister Ring said: “These grants will be a major boost to homes and businesses in Mayo. Not only will these upgrades help us deliver on our climate commitments, but they will result in cleaner, healthier, warmer homes and businesses and cheaper energy bills.
“Upgrading our homes and businesses with improved insulation and energy efficiency measures will help reduce energy costs and reduce our impact on the environment. Innovation and pioneering partnerships between the public and private sectors, residential and non-residential sectors, commercial and not-for-profit organisations are to be encouraged and supported.
“I commend Richard Bruton, the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment, for supporting these measures which will provide a great boost to homeowners and businesses in Mayo.”
