Former Mayo manager linked with Galway GAA vacancy
A FORMER Mayo senior football team manager is being linked with the vacant Galway post.
It was confirmed by the Galway County Board earlier that Kevin Walsh had opted to step down as the county's senior team manager after five years.
One of the leading contenders for the position is Ballinrobe man Stephen Rochford, currently a member of the Donegal GAA management team.
As a former Mayo and Corofin manager, he is regarded as having the ideal credentials for the job.
However, former Galway star Padraig Joyce is understood to be the frontrunner at this stage.
