Danny O'Leary appointed as the Mayo Oscar Traynor manager
Mayo will be entering the Oscar Traynor Trophy inter-league competition this year with Danny O'Leary at the helm.
O'Leary, current manager of Manulla FC in the Super League, was ratified last night for the campaign, which is due to start next month
Mayo Football League chairman Gerry Sweeney said he would like to wish the new manager all the best in the role.
He added: “I would appeal to all clubs to fully cooperate with him and his management team in order to ensure we give ourselves the best chance possible of success in the competition. The Mayo Football League will be advising all clubs of a date for trials for the squad and the information on this will be available shortly.
“Danny has experience in the Sligo/Leitrim League as well as here in Mayo as manager of Manulla FC, and he has recently completed the Elite Youth A Licence coaching course.
“I believe it’s crucial to have a league representative side and I’d like to wish Danny and his management team all the best for the campaign. I’m looking forward to seeing some refreshing and exciting football in the months ahead.”
Mayo did not take part in the competition last season but reached the quaterfinal in their last campaign, in 2017/18, before going down at the quarterfinal stage to a strong Wexford League side in New Ross.
