Anti-social behaviour in Mayo town highlighted
THE issue of anti-social behaviour at French Lane, off Pearse Street, Ballina, has been highlighted by members of the Ballina Municipal District.
It was reported that an elderly resident in the area had three windows of her house broken by stone-throwing youths.
“What can we do about it?” asked Councillor Annie May Reape. “Can the loose stones be cleared or can it be tarred?”
Mr. Tom Gilligan, director of services for the area, said he was shocked in relation to the matter.
“It's unfortunate that some people – a very small minority – are trying to bully and intimidate people. It has to stop. Anyone with information should contact the gardaí.”
He added that the council was looking at a proposal to put a surface on the ground.
