Passing of Mrs. Bridie MacAleese

THE death has taken place, on September 23, at Abbey Breaffy Nursing Home, Castlebar, one of Castlebar’s oldest residents, Bridie MacAleese, who celebrated her 101st birthday on September 1 last.

Bridie was the wife of the late Donagh MacAleese, former Editor and well-known journalist of The Connaught Telegraph.

Bridie lived most of her life in Ballynew, Castlebar, and is survived by her three daughters, Mary McNamara (Tralee), Angela Hourigan (Waterlooville, England) and Margo Cummins (Lecanvey), and her son Kevin MacAleese (Newcastle Upon Tyne). Kevin was also a former member of The Connaught Telegraph staff.

Bridie will be sadly missed by all of her family, extended family and neighbours. Deepest sympathy to all.
