Gullies resemble mini forests

SOME gullies around Castlebar resemble mini forests.

Councillor Ger Deere, at a local area meeting, has called on the council to immediately commence works on cleaning dozens of water gullies around the town.

Some of the gullies are so blocked they resemble mini forests, he said, with sapling trees growing out of them.

He warned that if action isn't taken soon on cleaning them it will lead to flooding for houses, businesses, streets and road ways.
