Former Mayo Library HQ to be put up for sale

THE former headquarters of the Mayo Library Services is to put up for sale.

The building at Mountain View in Castlebar, which was built in the 1940s, will be placed on the property market in the coming weeks.

Marie Crowley, head of the Castlebar Municipal District, confirmed the decision of Mayo County Council to Councillor Michael Kilcoyne.

She said: "The move will test the market for this type of property and we would be hopeful that under favourable circumstances it will achieve a good price," she added.

The building has been closed for a number of years and is in a poor state of repair.
