Plans being advanced for €2m. Mayo youth centre

PLANS are being advanced for a community youth resource centre in Mayo.

A grant application for urban renewal development funding of €2 million is being prepared for the project.

It will be located in the former post office building at Mountain View in Castlebar which has been lying vacant for a number of years.

The work will include refurbishment of the first floor, restoration of boundary walls, new access to the first floor and the fitting-out of the entire building.

The news has been confirmed by Marie Crowley, head of Castlebar Municipal District, in a report circulated to elected members of Mayo County Council.

The project partners include the council, Fòroige and the Mayo Youth Mental Health Institute (The Edge).
