New Mayo bus to help address social isolation
THE Minister for Rural and Community Development Michael Ring has officially handed over the keys of a new bus to Castlebar Voluntary Social Services.
The bus will be used to help alleviate the problems of social isolation and loneliness in the community.
In his address at the ceremony, Minister Ring praised the members of Castlebar Voluntary Social Services for their outstanding work in the town and surrounding areas.
He wished them every success in their new development plans which are due to get underway shortly.
A contractor has been appointed and the project will upgrade the existing facility as well as providing additional accommodation at the Castle Street carpark site.
"I cannot speak highly enough of the wonderful voluntary effort invested in the provision of social services in towns and villages throughout Mayo on a daily and weekly basis and I urge more people to become involved," added the minister.
