Cora Staunton makes memorable return to Carnacon action after serious injury
THE legendary Cora Staunton has made a memorable comeback to the GAA stage following her serious leg injury.
She was introduced as a substitute as Carnacon defeated Moy Davitts by 3-9 to 0-4 in the county final to claim their 20th senior title in a row.
By playing in the game, Staunton secured her 21st senior medal with the club at the age of 37.
She came off the bench as a second half replacement for Louise Dowling and registered point with her first scoring attempt.
Staunton suffered a triple leg break and also broke her ankle while playing in an Aussie rules game back in May. She subsequently underwent surgery.
She returned to Ireland in September and began training with Carnacon after completing her rehabilitation.
Cora received a great reception from the crowd in Swinford on her return to action.
