Major power outage in Westport hits over 4,700 properties

A SERIOUS electricity outage in Westport has tonight hit 4,765 customers of ESB Networks.

Crews are working to repair the fault and power is expected to be restored by 1.30 a.m. on Thursday.

Westport-based Councillor Brendan Mulroy, cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, praised ESB workers for their efforts.

He confirmed that power was restored to a number of homes in the town shortly before 11.30 p.m. tonight.
