New commitment given on Crossmolina flood defences
The Minister with Responsibility for the Office of Public Works, Kevin Boxer Moran, hs today met with representatives from the Crossmolina Flood Group.
The community is disappointed with the delays in the delivery of permanent flood defences for the Deel River despite political promises to do so.
A commitment was given by the OPW last October that contractors would be appointed during the summer months of 2019, but it did not happen.
However, funding for permanent flood defences has been included in the government’s capital programme for next year, as outlined in Budget 2020.
Minister Moran said he expected swift action on the matter.
He was accompanied by the Minister for Rural and Comunity Development, Michael Ring.
