Dismay over derelict sites notice on Castlebar property

A FINE Gael member of Mayo County Council has expressed disbelief that a notice under the Derelict Sites Act has been served on the owners of a property at Ellison Street in Castlebar.

The notice recommended that the owners replace/repair missing section of rainwater down pipe, replace/repair missing section of rainwater gutter, replace/repair any missing/loose slates and paint property.

Councillor Ger Deere hit out: “This was issued while the Imperial Hotel, which is in the council's ownership less than 300 meters away, could badly do with the same attention they expect private property owners to adhere to?”

He intended to raise the matter at today's meeting of the council.
