Warning issued over new telephone scam

A WARNING has been issued over a new telephone scam targetting Mayo people.

The calls appear to be originating from Vanuata, a nation in the South Pacific.

If you receive a call from a number beginning with 678, don't anwser it and certainly don't call back if a message is left to do so.

It's a scam designed to drain money from your phone credit and one which can also result in extra charges for bill-payers.
