Castlebar mourns passing of popular personality

THE death has taken place of Jimmy Prendergast, 'Glencar', The Curragh, Castlebar.

In his 92nd year, the deceased was a former psychiatric nurse by profession and was held in very high regard in the community.

He is survived by his wife Julia (nèe Connor), daughters Breda Brogan (Swords, Co. Dublin) Aine Orefice (England), sons James (Oranmore) and Patrick (The Curragh, Castlebar), sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

He was predeceased by his son Michael.

His remains will be reposing at his home on Friday evening from 4 until 8 p.m, arriving at the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, on Saturday at 12 noon for Requiem Mass at 12.30 p.m.

Burial takes place afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
