Mayo gardaí investigating street parking incident

GARDAÍ are investigating an incident which occurred at James Street in Westport earlier today.

It has been confirmed by Westport Garda Station that an altercation occurred when the owner of a vehicle is alleged to have reacted angrily when politely requested to refrain from parking in a disabled space.

Gardai were called to the scene and an investigation is ongoing.

In a statement issued to The Connaught Telegraph, Mayo County Council confirmed the incident involved one of its traffic wardens and a member of the public.

It is understood the traffic warden sustained minor injuries.
