Aurivo picks up prestigious business award
Aurivo, the globally-focused agribusiness headquartered in the north west of Ireland, has been awarded the Most Sustainable Business 2019 accolade by Compass Group in recognition of its outstanding contribution to sustainability and the environment.
The announcement was made at Compass Group’s ninth annual Food that Works Summit at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin.
Over 400 people attended, including representatives from the foodservice, technology, sustainability and health and wellbeing sectors who shared insights on trends influencing food in the workplace.
Commenting on the achievement, Aurivo general manager, Stephen Blewitt, said: “Aurivo is extremely proud of its award wins at this year’s Compass Group Food that Works Summit.
“Aurivo is committed to maintaining the highest standard of food quality for its products and sustainability is a key focus of Aurivo’s five-year growth plan, Engage 2022, which has seen several sustainability measures introduced across the group under its sustainability strategy.
“Most recently, Aurivo introduced to the market a 1.75L Tetra Rex® Bio-based carton, which contains 75% less plastic than the previous 2 litre plastic bottle for its Connacht Gold milk brand, to expand its packaging range and offer a more sustainable source of raw material to its liquid milk consumer.”
Aurivo has recently undertaken a number of other sustainability investments including the installation of heat pump technology at the liquid milk plant in Killygordon, allowing the plant to reduce on-site fossil fuel consumption by 80 per cent.
As a member of Origin Green, Aurivo and its farmers work together to reach sustainability targets and boost where possible the environmental profile of its products.
