Death of former Mayo local authority staff member

THE death has taken place of Brian Guthrie, The Brambles, Pontoon Road, Castlebar.

The deceased, a popular and respected personality, was a former traffic warden with Castlebar Town Council and Mayo County Council.

He also worked for some time with the former Western Health Board.

Brian served as a member of the Mayo Branch of the Irish Soccer Referees Society for many years.

He is survived by his wife Agnes, daughter Brenda, sons Ian and John, grandson Devin, brothers Kevin, Brendan, John and Paidge, sisters Mary Cosgrove and Ann Goldrick, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and former work colleagues, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

Brian was predeceased by his brothers Tom and Mickey.

His remains will be reposing at Kilcoyne's Funeral Home, Thomas Street, Castlebar, on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral will arrive at the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, at 12.30 p.m on Friday for Requiem Mass at 1 p.m.

Interment takes place afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
