Major blow for Mayo boss Horan as Barrett leaves
MAYO senior team manager James Horan is in search for a new selector following the news that Kiltane's Martin Barrett has decided to leave his management team.
Barrett's decision follows shortly after another one of Horan's selectors, Daniel Forde, decided last year to step away from been involved with the county senior team.
Despite media reports to the contrary, The Connaught Telegraph has learned that Barrett is stepping away and that everyone associated with the county senior team, including players, have been informed of his departure.
It is expected that Horan will be looking at suitable candidates during the coming weeks in order to identify and appoint a replacement.
Meanwhile, the Mayo senior team competitive season gets underway next Sunday when they play Galway in the Connacht FBD league in Elverys MacHale Park, Castlebar.
Their opening Division 1 National League game will be away to Donegal at the end of the month.
