Minister Ring abandons canvass in south Mayo due to heavy snowfall
MINISTER Michael Ring has abandoned his canvass of south Mayo this evening due to heavy snowfalls in the area.
He has warned motorists to exercise caution on their way home after work.
He told The Connaught Telegraph: "I was canvassing in Claremorris and was due to visit Knock and other communities in the area.
"But such was the heavy nature of the showfalls that we made a decision to abandon the canvass due to health and safety concerns.
"I will return another day this week when the weather improves."
The Minister is hoping to fulfil a number of engagements in Erris later today if the weather is kinder.
