Westport cookery school proposal

PLANS for a new cookery school in Westport have been submitted to Mayo County Council for approval.

The well-known Cabot Foods are behind the proposal, which is to be based at Deerpark/Ballinvoy.

Cabots are planning to construct a cookery school incorporating food processing with an associated vegetable garden, an access road and associated car parking, and ancillary site works and services.

Documents submitted to planners explain how they propose to relocate and extend their existing business at Lanmore. Due to the success of Cabot Foods, who distribute produce countryside, the existing site is no longer suitable and it is proposed that a state of the art premises be developed at Deerpark/Ballinvoy.

The existing business employs four people, which will increase to seven with the new development.
